The North American FJ-3 it first flew in 1953. It was a development of the FJ-2 and was powered by a single Wright J65-W-4 engine. The FJ-3 used the Wright J65-W-4 engine, but had a redesigned fuselage and wings with greater fuel capacity and was used primarily by the Marine Corps.
VF-191 only had one deployment flying the Fury, as CVG-19 aboard the USS Yorktown (CV-10) early to mid '57
The Fury was quite a shorted lived aircraft, with last being delivered in May 1958 last reported in squadron on 30 September 1962.

Photo of FJ-3 in VF-191 markings, courtesy of George Canciani. The picture of the FJ-3, at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, was taken a long time ago. The aircraft was painted in the squadron colours for display purposes, though it apparently never served with VF-191.
