In September of 1946 Fighting Squadron Nineteen, "Satan's Kittens", in Grumman F8F-1s, was based at NAAS ALAMEDA, California.
August of 1948 saw the Air group reorganized into three squadrons of F8Fs and two of ADs, Fighting Squadron Nineteen becoming VF-191 along with VF-192, VF-193, VF-194 and VF-195.
Shortly after the outbreak of the Korean war, they were deployed aboard the USS Boxer (CV-21) as part of the US Navy 7th fleet.
